"Flanders Hotel" is a watercolor painting of the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City NJ. The painting depicts the majestic hotel located at 11th Street on boardwalk in Ocean City NJ as it appeared in 1990. The surf and beach, covered with colorful umbrellas, is in the foreground. The crowded boardwalk is in the mid-ground of the painting along with the famous Flanders Grill. Behind the Flanders Grill is the Flanders Hotel, I don't recall how many floors it had but the Flanders did have several retail shops at the entrance off the boardwalk. The Flanders was all white stucco in the 1920s Spanish Revival type architecture, with several terra cotta tile roofs and deep forest green trim, which we called "Flanders Green." What you cannot see in this painting is the gigantic saltwater swimming pool that was in front of the Flanders and just off the boardwalk. The pool believe it not was saltwater and the pool was always crowded with guests. My mother worked as the executive secretary to the General Manager in the mid 1960s and because my mother worked at the hotel, we, my two sisters and I got to the Flanders Pool for free...everyday it was open in the summer! Fond memories you can imagine. You will have fond memories too with this nice image of the Flanders Hotel. The print comes signed and matted and fits easily into standard frames.
